Songs From the Building

CAN RESIDENTS OF PHNOM PENH’S ICONIC WHITE BUILDING SAVE IT FROM DEVELOPERS?

One of the last surviving performers of the Cambodian Royal Court stages a unique performance in a desperate attempt to unite her community and save her home.

Since the fall of the Khmer Rouge in 1979, dancer and musician Hun Sarath, has lived in The White Building - a decaying apartment building home to almost 3000 people living at the bottom of Cambodia’s social and economic ladder, including many of the last surviving masters of Cambodian arts.

Now developers want the prime real estate on which the Building stands. The impoverished artists are forced to fight for the only home they know with the only weapon they have - their art.
